Women and Girls Education (WAGE)

Through 10 years of community organizing around SRHR and SGBV, Teenseed identified denied right to education as a significant contributor to violence against women and girls, teenage pregnancy and increased vulnerability. WAGE was launched in 2021, built on the understanding that educated women have more choices and independence.

1. Seeds Education Fund (SEF): a scholarship fund for girls who have experienced early pregnancy or other forms of SGBV in Kiambiu, fully cared for under Teenseed's guardianship, including school fees, books, uniform and other needs.

2. Seeds Education Support (SES): a partial education scholarship awarded annually to girls in Kiambiu identified as at risk of sexual violence, whose families cannot support their education — a preventative mechanism while they remain with their families.

In 2023, a short-term Adult Literacy project, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, registered 26 women and girls (ages 19-57) for KCPE, of whom 18 attained their certification. This project is completed.
